The same English sentence, twice. Brittney is American - bright, rhotic, social-media pace. Allison is British - rounded vowels, softer r, narration pace. Most tools decide this for you; here it is a choice.
The English voices
All 10 run on the ElevenLabs tiers: Enhanced at 90 credits / 1,000 characters (≈ $0.19 per minute of speech) and Premium at 180 (≈ $0.37) for the most natural result. The OpenAI Standard tier reads English too at 50 credits, with 6 delivery styles. Browse all 106 voices →
Why a native English voice matters
Accent is a targeting decision, not a detail. American English dominates social platforms and product demos; British English carries authority in narration, education and luxury branding - the reason UK voices front so many documentaries and audiobooks. The vowels differ (dance, bath), the r after vowels appears or disappears, and dates, spelling and stress patterns follow the accent you pick.
The American six: Brittney, bright and made for short-form video; Hope, clear and friendly for explainers; Jessica, a chatty conversational voice with more age in it; Mark, conversational and podcast-ready; Jamal, young and relaxed, the single most-used voice in the library; Jon, a warm, grounded storyteller. The British four: Allison, a warm audiobook narrator; Amelia, enthusiastic and expressive; Christopher, a documentary baritone; Frederick, crisp RP for formal content. Behind them stand six universal English voices and thirteen OpenAI voices - with delivery styles - so English has the deepest roster in Speecho: 29 voices.

Frequently asked questions
Which accent should I pick for YouTube or TikTok?
American, in most niches - it is the accent short-form audiences hear most, and Brittney and Jamal in particular are tuned for that pace. For history, science or luxury content, British narration often tests better; try Christopher or Allison.
Do the voices handle British vs American spelling?
Both spellings are read correctly by every voice - colour and color come out the same. What changes with the voice is pronunciation: schedule, vitamin, and aluminium all follow the accent of the voice you picked.
Are there Australian or Indian English voices?
Not as dedicated native voices yet - the current roster is six American and four British speakers, plus universal voices without a locked accent. The roster grows based on what users generate most.
How much does English text to speech cost?
Accent voices cost 90 credits per 1,000 characters on Enhanced or 180 on Premium. The OpenAI Standard tier reads English at 50 credits and adds six delivery styles. A 1,000-character passage is roughly one minute of speech - about $0.19 on Enhanced at the $5 pack rate.
