Hear the translation, read it too

The translated voice starts a few seconds behind the speaker, and the text of both sides builds up on screen as it goes.

Hear a real translation

Short passages from classic books, read aloud in nine languages. The live interpreter translated each one into the other eight. Pick the original, then a language.

Alrededor de esa capilla están las tumbas de los reyes, cuyas imágenes de piedra, con la mano en la empuñadura de la espada, parecen velar noche y día por el santuario, a cuya sombra descansan por toda una eternidad.

Around that chapel are the graves of the kings, whose images in stone with their hand on the hilt of the sword seem to be watching over the sanctuary night and day. In whose shadow they rest for all eternity.

Three ways to use it

Same interpreter, three situations.

How listeners join

The link exists before the session does, so the minutes everyone spends scanning cost nothing.

  1. 1

    Switch on the listen link

You get a link and a QR code right away, before you start.

  2. 2

    Show the QR code

On a screen or in a group chat. The link stays the same for your next sessions in the same browser.

  3. 3

    People open it and wait

They tap Listen once, so the phone is allowed to play sound, and wait on the page. Waiting costs nothing.

  4. 4

    Press Start

Everyone on the link hears the translation and reads it. Stop for a break and they stay connected until you start again.

What you control

The details that decide whether it works in a real room.

Original sound level

Translating a tab, the original plays quietly under the translation, like a voice-over. Drag it down to silence or up to full while it runs.

Microphone and speakers

Choose which microphone to use on a computer and, in Chrome or Edge, which headphones or speakers the translation plays on.

A link that stays

Your listen link and QR code carry over to the next session you start in the same browser. Make a new one whenever you want the old one to stop working.

Saved to your history

The original is saved with timestamps and the translation as text, ready to read back, summarise or export.

Survives a dropped connection

If the network drops or the page reloads, the session picks up where it was, and so do your listeners.

Voice, text or both

Listeners without headphones can read along. Turn the voice off and keep only the text whenever that suits the room better.

Interpreter or subtitles?

Speecho does both. Pick the one that fits the room.

Live subtitles

  • Your audience reads the translation on a screen or on their phones
  • Text appears almost as the words are spoken
  • Translation into 60 languages
  • Uses the least balance
  • Best for a hall with a screen, a livestream, an OBS overlay

Live interpreter

  • Your audience hears the translation in a natural voice, with the text alongside
  • The voice runs three to five seconds behind the speaker
  • Translation into 70+ languages
  • Uses balance faster, because every sentence is spoken aloud
  • Best for tours, calls, videos and people on the move

Both run on the same balance, and you can switch between them from one session to the next. See live subtitles →

Keep to one language per session: a speaker who switches languages mid-sentence makes the translation stumble.

Good to know before you start

Said up front, so nobody finds out in front of an audience.

Pick a tier, see the price

Both translate by voice, with the text on screen. They differ in the voice, the delay and the languages, and you choose before each session.

Standard
Single voice you pick
40 credits / minute
from $3.33 / hour

One voice that you pick reads the whole translation, about five seconds behind the speaker. It follows your glossary of names and terms. 50+ languages.

Premium
Multiple voices, shorter delay
80 credits / minute
from $6.67 / hour

Several voices rather than a single one, and the shortest delay: about three seconds behind the speaker. All 70+ languages.

Hourly prices are at the $50 pack rate. At the $5 pack an hour costs $5 on Standard and $10 on Premium.

Live interpreter: frequently asked questions

Is it free?

You can try it free: new accounts get a free balance when they confirm their email. After that it runs on pay-as-you-go credits, billed by the second, with no subscription.

What is the difference between Standard and Premium?

Standard reads the translation in one voice that you pick, runs about five seconds behind the speaker, follows your glossary and covers 50+ languages. Premium uses several voices, runs about three seconds behind and covers all 70+. Premium costs more per minute. You choose the tier before each session.

Which languages does it translate into?

More than 70, from Arabic, Chinese and Hindi to Swahili, Ukrainian and Vietnamese. The spoken language is recognised automatically, so you only choose the language people should hear. Premium covers all of them, Standard more than 50.

Do listeners need an app or an account?

No. They scan the QR code or open the link in their phone's browser, tap Listen once and hear the translation. Nothing to install, no sign-up.

How many people can listen?

Up to 20 per session. They all hear the same language, the one you chose before starting.

Does it work with Zoom, Google Meet or Teams?

Yes, in the browser. Open the call in a Chrome or Edge tab and choose that tab as the audio source, and you hear the other side translated. Nothing joins the call as a bot, and the other participants do not hear the translation.

Does the translation sound like the speaker?

No. It is spoken in a natural AI voice, not a copy of anyone's voice. The text of the original and of the translation is on screen as well.

What happens to the audio?

By default the audio is streamed for translation and not stored. Turn on Keep audio before you start, and the recording of the original is saved next to the transcript so you can listen back. The translated voice is never stored. The original and the translated text are saved to your history like any transcript, and you can delete any of it at any time.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, with the microphone: open the app in your phone's browser and speak. Translating a browser tab needs Chrome or Edge on a computer.

What if the other person wants to reply?

The interpreter translates one way, from the speaker to the listeners. For a talk between two people who answer each other, use Conversation in the Live section: one phone between you, each of you reads the other in your own language, and the conversation is saved in both.

Speak. They hear it in their language.
