Hear the difference

The same sentence in both accents. Allison is British, Brittney is American - listen to the r at the end of a word, which disappears in the British line, and to the vowel in "dance" and "path".

All 8 run on the ElevenLabs tiers: Enhanced at 110 credits / 1,000 characters (≈ $0.23 per minute of speech) and Premium at 160 (≈ $0.33) for the most natural result. The Standard tier reads British English too at 50 credits, and for most languages it has native voices of its own. Every clip downloads as MP3. Browse the voice library →

Why a native British English voice matters

The British voices speak the register a listener in the UK hears as standard: broadly Received Pronunciation without sounding archaic. The r at the end of a syllable is dropped, so "father" and "here" end on a vowel, "dance" and "bath" take the long a, and the intonation falls at the end of a statement rather than rising.

It is the accent to pick when the audience is British or Commonwealth and the copy is too: a training module for UK staff, a documentary voiceover, an IVR a customer in London calls. Allison and Amelia work on narration and course material, Christopher on corporate and documentary reads, Frederick on formal and older-sounding material. Samara is smooth and elegant for brand and social content, Ana Rita a young voice for book narration, Adam a velvety, laid-back baritone, Bradford an expressive storyteller. Irish and Scottish English have their own voices and pages; Welsh and regional English accents are not offered, and where those matter, a human recording is still the right call.

Frequently asked questions

Can I choose a UK accent rather than an American one?

Yes - the eight voices on this page are British, each with a free sample. The thirteen American voices live on the American English page if you need that side instead.

Is it RP or a regional British accent?

Broadly Received Pronunciation, the register used in broadcasting. Irish and Scottish English have their own pages; Welsh and regional English accents are not offered as separate voices.

Which British voice should I pick?

For narration and course material, Allison or Amelia. For corporate and documentary reads, Christopher. For formal or older-sounding material, Frederick. For brand and social content, Samara; for fiction, Ana Rita or Bradford; for a relaxed late-night read, Adam. All eight have free samples.

Can I download the result as an MP3?

Yes. Every generated audio downloads as an MP3 for use in a video, a phone system or a podcast, with no attribution required.

How much does British English text to speech cost?

The eight voices on this page cost 110 credits per 1,000 characters on Enhanced or 160 on Premium. The Standard tier has seventeen native British voices of its own at 50. All of it comes from a pay-as-you-go balance that starts at $5 and does not expire.
