Why a native French voice matters
French lives on features English simply does not have: nasal vowels (un bon vin blanc), the uvular r, silent final consonants that come back to life in liaison (les amis pronounced lez-ami). An English-accented voice misses all three, which is why foreign TTS reading French sounds instantly off to a French ear. Native voices carry the even, syllable-timed rhythm and the light rising end of French sentences.

Does it handle liaison and silent letters?
Yes - the native voices apply liaison where French does (vous êtes as vouz-êtes) and keep final consonants silent where they should be. This is precisely what non-native TTS gets wrong most often.
Is it France French or Canadian French?
France French. Nicolas and Jeanne have a Parisian colour; the rest speak the standard broadcast register. There is no native Québécois voice yet - universal voices can read Canadian French text, with an English-leaning accent.
Can it read numbers, dates and euros correctly?
