Speak German. They read Arabic.
Speecho listens to the room and streams Arabic subtitles, set right to left the way Arabic is read, while the sentence is still being spoken. The Elternabend or the information evening runs at its normal pace.

For German rooms with an Arabic-speaking audience
Where the information is free, the language is the barrier, and the interpreter is booked out.
Elternabend and school information evenings
Dates, trips, material lists and the rules on absences, delivered in German at speaking pace. Arabic-speaking parents leave with the dates and none of the conditions.
Now: The evening reads in Arabic on their phones as it happens, and the saved transcript can go to every family in the class.
Briefings at the Jobcenter, the Ausländerbehörde or a Beratungsstelle
A group briefing about deadlines, documents and what happens when a form is late. The booked interpreter is in another case.
Now: Arabic subtitles on the screen in the room, or on each phone through a link - the same briefing, understood the first time.
Community centres and Integrationskurse
A course group or community organisation that works in German with Arabic-speaking families. The social part works; the practical instructions do not.
Now: Live Arabic subtitles for the parts where the words carry the information, with nothing for the audience to install.
Subtitles appear while the sentence is still being spoken
Interim words show up instantly and settle as the phrase completes - the German above, the Arabic below.
Guten Abend, schön, dass Sie da sind.
مساء الخير، يسعدنا حضوركم.
Wir beginnen mit den Terminen für dieses Schuljahr.
نبدأ بمواعيد هذا العام الدراسي.
Ihre Fragen können Sie am Ende stellen.
يمكنكم طرح أسئلتكم في النهاية.
Three steps, and the room is reading
Set up once; after that it is one button before you start.
1. Pick where the sound comes from
The microphone in the room, or the audio of a browser tab if the meeting is online. Taking audio from the sound desk beats a laptop microphone in a large room.
Note: tab audio needs Chrome or Edge. In Safari and Firefox the microphone is the way in.
2. Share the reading link
One link, shown as a QR code on the screen or printed in the programme. It opens in a browser - no install, no account, and each reader sets their own text size.
put the subtitles on the projector in fullscreen instead, and nobody needs a phone at all.
3. Start, and stop when you are done
Billed by the second while the session runs, from a pay-as-you-go balance. Pause it over a break and nothing is charged.
the session is saved as a transcript in both languages, exportable as text or subtitles.
Pay only for what you use
Top up once. Credits never expire. No subscription. One wallet for transcription, scans and captions.
New accounts get 15 free minutes to try - credits work for scans and captions too.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Arabic read right to left?
Yes. The subtitle line, the reader page and the exported transcript all set Arabic right to left, with German words and numbers inside a sentence kept in their own direction. It reads as Arabic, not as Arabic characters in a German layout.
Which Arabic does it translate into?
Modern Standard Arabic - the register a newspaper or an official announcement uses, understood by families from every Arabic-speaking country. It is not Levantine, Egyptian or Gulf dialect.
Is this a substitute for a sworn interpreter?
No, and it should not be used as one. Anything with legal consequence - a hearing, a signed declaration, a medical consent - needs a qualified interpreter. This is for the information events and meetings that today happen in German only because no interpreter was available.
What happens to long German compound nouns?
They are translated as concepts rather than word by word, so Aufenthaltserlaubnis arrives as the Arabic phrase that means the same thing. That is right for understanding the sentence and wrong for finding the word on a form later, which is why the transcript keeps the German original alongside.
What does an hour cost?
Billed by the second from a pay-as-you-go balance, from $0.83 per hour - well under a euro. An evening event is about a dollar, and pausing over a break costs nothing.
Can the subtitles spell names right and translate terms my way?
Yes. Open Glossary before you start and add names and terms, plus translations into Arabic written as term = translation, such as a job title or a product name the way your audience says it. The subtitles use them from the first sentence, and you can edit the list during the session.
