Loom video to text you can search.
Download the MP4 that Loom gives you, drop it in, and get clean text with timestamps, subtitles you can reuse elsewhere, and a summary of what you actually said.
Upload a Loom recording →From Loom link to text in three steps
No extension, no workspace admin, no plan upgrade.
1. Download the MP4
Open the video in Loom and use Download to save it. Loom hands you a standard MP4 — nothing to convert.
2. Transcribe with speakers
Speaker labels separate voices in a shared walkthrough or a recorded call. Timestamps link every line back to the moment on screen.
3. Summarize and reuse
The AI summary pulls out decisions and next steps. Export TXT for your notes, or SRT/VTT to caption the same clip elsewhere.
Why not just read Loom’s own transcript?
Loom transcribes inside Loom. This is for everything you do with the video afterwards.
Translation into 18 languages
Record the walkthrough once and hand a colleague the transcript in their language, instead of asking them to follow along in yours.
Subtitles you can take with you
Export .srt or .vtt and caption the same clip on LinkedIn, YouTube or in a help centre — not only inside the Loom player.
Pay per video, not per seat
A 12-minute walkthrough costs about $0.17. No workspace plan to upgrade, no seat to add for the one person who needs a transcript.
Pay only for what you use
Top up once. Credits never expire. No subscription. One wallet for transcription, scans and captions.
New accounts get 15 free minutes to try — credits work for scans and captions too.
Frequently asked questions
How do I transcribe a Loom video?
Open the video in Loom, click Download to save the MP4, then upload that file to Speecho. The transcript with speaker labels and timestamps is ready in minutes, along with subtitles and a summary.
Can I transcribe a Loom that someone shared with me?
Only if the owner left downloads enabled — Loom lets them turn that off. If the Download option isn’t there, ask whoever recorded it to send you the file. There is no way around a sharing setting the owner has deliberately closed.
Do I need a paid Loom plan?
No. Speecho works on the video file itself, so any Loom plan is fine as long as you can download the recording.
Will the transcript show who was speaking?
Yes — turn on speaker identification and each line is labelled. That matters for recorded calls and paired walkthroughs; for a solo screen recording you can leave it off.
Can I burn the captions into the video?
Speecho gives you .srt and .vtt subtitle files, which most players and platforms accept as a separate track. If you want the words baked into the picture, see our page on adding captions to video.
