Three steps, no site admin, no plan change.
1. Download the recording
Sign in to the Webex User Hub, open Recordings, find the meeting and click Download. Recordings made in recent years save as MP4.
2. Got an .arf file? Convert first
Older Webex recordings use the proprietary ARF format, which no transcription tool can read. The Webex Recording Converter turns ARF into MP4 — it is Windows-only, so on a Mac the shortcut is to ask the host for an MP4.
3. Transcribe and summarize
Speaker labels separate each voice, every paragraph carries a timestamp, and the AI summary pulls out decisions and action items.
Why not the built-in Webex transcript?
Webex transcription depends on your site configuration, your plan and an admin who enabled it.
No plan or admin setting
Speecho works on the recording file, so it covers any plan, meetings recorded before transcription was switched on, and files a colleague sent you.
99 languages in, 18 out
Transcribe a meeting held in Spanish, German or Japanese, then translate the transcript for everyone who wasn’t in the room.
Pay per meeting, not per seat
A one-hour meeting costs $0.83–$1.25. No licences to provision for the one person who needs the notes.
Pay only for what you use
Top up once. Credits never expire. No subscription. One wallet for transcription, scans and captions.
New accounts get 15 free minutes to try — credits work for scans and captions too.
Frequently asked questions
How do I transcribe a Webex recording?
Download the recording from the Webex User Hub — Recordings, then Download — and upload the MP4 to Speecho. The transcript with speaker labels and timestamps is ready in minutes, along with an AI summary.
Can you transcribe an .arf file?
Not directly. ARF is Cisco’s proprietary format and no transcription service reads it. Convert it to MP4 first with the Webex Recording Converter, which Cisco provides for Windows only. On macOS there is no official converter, so the practical route is to ask the meeting host to download or re-share the recording as MP4.
Do I need a paid Webex plan?
No. Speecho transcribes the file itself, so it works regardless of your Webex plan or whether your site administrator enabled Webex’s own transcription.
Will the transcript show who said what?
Yes — enable speaker identification and each line is labelled. You can rename "Speaker 1" to real names afterwards.
Is the meeting audio kept private?
Video never leaves your computer — only the extracted audio is processed. Recordings are not used to train AI models, and you can delete transcriptions from your history at any time.
