How do I add captions to a video?
Open the Caption tab in Speecho, upload your video (MP4, MOV or WebM up to 200MB / 30 minutes), pick a style, set the position, size and colours while watching the preview on a frame of your video, and click render. A few minutes later you download the same video with subtitles burned into the picture - they play everywhere, no player settings needed.
What caption styles are available?
Six presets. Clean (white text with a thin outline - cinema style), Bold (large yellow text with heavy outline - short-form social style) and Box (white text on a semi-transparent dark strip - best over busy footage) show whole phrases. Karaoke, Pop and Fill highlight the word being spoken: Karaoke recolours it three words at a time, Pop shows two big words and enlarges the current one, Fill paints whole phrases left to right as they are said. Every preset can be moved, resized and recoloured, and the preview shows the result on your own footage.
Can captions highlight each word as it is spoken?
Yes. Pick Karaoke, Pop or Fill, or switch on Word highlight under any preset and choose the colour and how many words stay on screen (1 to 6, or whole phrases). The timing comes from the transcript's word timestamps, so nothing is typed or keyframed by hand. The preview animates the effect before you pay, and plays it on your real transcript after the first step.
Can I keep the captions out of the Reels and TikTok interface?
Yes. Set the distance from the bottom edge, or press the Reels safe zone button to lift the captions 35% up, above the strip where Instagram draws the caption, buttons and progress bar. A safe-zone toggle in the preview shades the covered areas on your frame. The free caption safe zone checker on this site does the same for an existing SRT and hands the position straight over to Caption Studio.
How much does it cost?
30 credits per video minute, transcription included. The first minute is the minimum, after that it is billed by the second - from about $0.04/min with larger packs. A typical 60-second Reel is 30 credits (~4–6 cents). Compare: caption tools charge $12–41 per month regardless of usage. No watermark at any price.
What languages does it caption?
The speech recognition supports 99 languages with auto-detect. Captions are rendered in the language spoken in the video; the transcript can additionally be translated to 18 languages and exported as SRT/VTT.
Do I also get the transcript?
Yes. Every caption job also saves a normal transcript to your history - copy it, summarize it, translate it, or export SRT/VTT/Word/PDF alongside the rendered video.
How long is the rendered video stored?
The finished MP4 stays available for download for 30 days. The transcript stays in your history for 90 days. Rendering the same transcript again with another style costs only the render step, 20 credits per minute, not the transcription.
