Make a scan-to-listen sign for live translation

Paste your Speecho listener link and get a sign your audience can scan: a QR code, a heading in their language and three steps. Print it as a sheet, a table tent or cards, or put it on a slide. Free, no signup, and the link never leaves your browser.

Language of the sign

Pick the language your session translates into, the one your listeners read. They may not read the language of the room.

Nothing is uploaded. The link, the event name and the Wi-Fi details stay in this tab.

Why a sign, and where to put it

With Speecho's Live interpreter the speaker talks and the audience hears the translation on their own phones, through a listener link. The hard part is rarely the translation. It is getting a room full of people onto one link in the two minutes before you start. A sign does that work: the QR code opens the link, the address under it is there for anyone who would rather type, and the heading is in the language of the people it is for.

Put it where people come in, on the tables, or on the screen before you begin. Listeners who open the link early just wait for the speaker. No link yet? Open the Live interpreter and switch on the listen link: you get it before the session starts.

Questions

Does the link on the sign change?

A Live interpreter listener link stays the same from one session to the next, so a printed sign keeps working. With an account the link belongs to the account: it is the same from any device and browser you sign in on. It changes only when you press New link in the app; the old sign then stops working.

Do listeners pay or need an account?

No. Listeners scan the code, the link opens in their phone's browser and they tap Listen. No app to install, no sign-up, nothing to pay. People who open the link before you start wait for the speaker, and that waiting costs you nothing.

Which languages can the sign be in?

The heading and the steps come ready in 14 languages: English, Spanish, German, French, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Turkish, Ukrainian, Arabic (set right to left), Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese. For any other language, choose "Your own text" and type it. A sign is in one language: the one your session translates into.

Do I need Wi-Fi in the room?

Listeners need internet on their phones, and mobile data is enough. If the signal in the room is weak or you expect guests from abroad, add the Wi-Fi name and password: they are printed on the sign under the steps.

Why does the sign tell people to use headphones?

Without headphones the translation plays from phone speakers, and a few phones are enough to disturb the room and the speaker. With headphones each listener hears the translation and their neighbours hear the room.

Can I make a sign for live subtitles?

Yes. Paste a Live subtitles link (my.speecho.app/watch/ and a code) and the heading becomes "Read live subtitles on your phone", with no listen or headphones step. A subtitles link is new for every session, so print that sign for each event.

Which format should I pick?

A sheet (A4 or Letter) for a door, a wall or a stand. A table tent for tables and the registration desk: fold the sheet in half and both sides read the right way up. A 16:9 slide for the screen before you start. Four cards per sheet to hand out or leave on seats. Print also gives you a PDF: choose "Save as PDF" in the print dialog.
