# Turn a podcast episode into show notes, chapters and captions

> One upload of your recording gives you a transcript, timestamped chapters, show notes and subtitle files - the whole post-production text layer, in minutes instead of an evening.

The recording is the fun part. The text layer around it - show notes, chapters, a transcript for SEO, captions for the video cut - is the chore that eats an evening every week. Here's how to get all of it from a single upload, so you can publish the same day you record.

## What you actually need to ship an episode

For most shows, "done" means five text assets:

- A **transcript** (great for SEO and accessibility on your episode page).
- **Timestamped chapters** so listeners can jump around.
- **Show notes** - a tight summary with the key points and takeaways.
- **Subtitles** (.srt/.vtt) for the YouTube or Reels cut.
- **Quotable pull-lines** for social promo.

Traditionally that's a transcript tool, a separate summariser, and a lot of copy-paste. It doesn't have to be.

## One upload, the whole text layer

Drop your episode audio (or the video file) into Speecho and you get four outputs at once, plus a couple of one-click extras built for exactly this:

1. **Transcript** in clean paragraphs, downloadable as text, Word or PDF - paste it under the episode for search engines to index.
2. **AI chapters** - one click splits the recording into chapters with clickable timestamps. Drop them straight into your player and YouTube description.
3. **Show notes** - the AI summary gives you key points and takeaways; pick the "podcast show notes" style for a format that's ready to publish.
4. **Subtitles** - .srt and .vtt files sync'd to the audio, ready for your video editor or a direct YouTube upload.
5. **Pull-quotes** - open **Ask AI** on the transcript and ask for the three most quotable lines for social.

> A one-hour episode goes from raw file to full text kit in a few minutes - and costs about a dollar to process.

## For the video cut

If you publish a video version, the subtitle files are the whole job. Upload the video, let Speecho extract the audio in-browser, and export .srt/.vtt that drop into Premiere, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve or straight onto YouTube. Need burned-in captions for a Reel or Short? See [how to add captions to a video](/add-captions-to-video/).

## Why per-use beats a subscription here

Podcast schedules are lumpy - a burst of episodes, then a break. A monthly subscription charges through the quiet weeks anyway. Pay-as-you-go means you pay per episode and nothing when you're not publishing, and because **credits never expire**, stocking up before a season is never wasted. The [pricing page](/pricing/) has the per-hour rates.
